U11/12 Goalkeeper Evaluation Sessions next week

Hello all,

You are getting this email (bcc) because when you registered for the U11 and U12 Phase 3 Evaluation Sessions you selected either "full time goalkeeper" or "part time goalkeeper" as your primary or secondary position.

To be clear, if you put “full time goalkeeper” that means, if selected, you are willing to play in goal more than half the time. If you put “part time goalkeeper” that means you’re willing to play up to half the time in goal. If you would like to change your choice or withdraw from being considered as a goalkeeper please let me know before the sessions on February 28th.

Please come to the sessions dressed appropriately for being a keeper, keeping the weather in mind. We strongly advise wearing goalkeeper gloves.

This session is not mandatory but is strongly recommended as it lets us focus entirely on goalkeeper skills. Coming to this session does not replace the Phase 3 sessions for your age and the level you have requested. Invites to U11 and U12 players who requested to be considered for Gold will be sent in a separate email.

At U11 and U12 full time keepers must also be close to the standard of play in an outfield position as they will still see some playing time out of goal. Part time keepers must fully meet the standard of play in outfield positions to be selected as both a keeper and an outfield player.

Here are the details for the U11/12 Goalkeeper Evaluation Sessions next week. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your session to get signed in and get a numbered pinnie:

Hello current U10 and U11 families,

We are busy gathering Phase 1 and 2 scores for all our players and the first Phase 3 sessions are coming up for next season’s U11 and U12 gold teams. U11 and U12 Phase 3 sessions for silver will follow after spring break.

As we need to sort through the requests players made to be considered for gold and silver and cross reference these with Phase 1 and 2 scores in time to get invites out and allow for those not invited to request attendance at the Review session on February 28, you should be registered for Phase 3 now if you want to be considered for Gold or Silver teams next season.

If you are not registered in the next 24 hours you will not be on the lists that we use to establish invites to the U11 and U12 Gold sessions next week and that means you won’t be considered for an invite.

You can get Phase 3 info and a link to register here: http://vancouverunitedfc.com/2016-evaluations/phase-3-information

Players who have indicated they want to be considered for full or part time goalkeeper at U11 and U12 will get a separate email reminding them of the Goalkeeper Evaluation sessions we are running on February 28th.

One last important thing: As in past years there is a rumour going around that if you want to play silver you give yourself a better chance by requesting consideration for gold. There’s a belief that all those, or almost all those, not selected for gold are automatically put on silver teams. This is not true. While a very few players who narrowly missed being selected for gold may be given a pass onto silver teams, this is a small number and the vast majority of those not selected for gold teams will be required to come to the Phase 3 silver sessions where they will be assessed with those who requested to be considered for silver. This has come up at the info meetings I’ve been running and once I’ve clarified it several people have requested that their child’s choice to be considered for gold be changed to silver. It’s not too late if you want to do this and would in fact be appreciated if you do want to make that change.

Hello U10 to U13 VUFC families,

Our Evaluation process for next season’s teams is already well underway. We are now ready to open registration for Phase 3 On-Field of the process.
Click here to see all the Phase 3 On-Field dates and to register for them if your child is interested in playing at the Gold/Div 1 or Silver/Silver A/Div 2 level.
There is more information about this on the linked page. We also strongly advise all those attending Phase 3 to read our Evaluation Policies which can be found here.
