Vancouver United FC is a soccer club with a long history. We are the result of the combination of three long-standing west side Vancouver soccer clubs: Dunbar Soccer Association, Kerrisdale Soccer Society, and Point Grey Soccer Association. The new club is one of the largest soccer clubs in Western Canada with 3,000 players ranging in ages from five to eighteen.
The club currently operates teams at the House (U6-U10) and Divisional (U11 -U18) levels at a Gold, Silver and Bronze levels or Divisions One through to Eight in their respective leagues in the Lower Mainland. The clubs operates separate neighbourhood houses at the U6-U10 level representing the three founding clubs (Dunbar, Kerrisdale and Point Grey). The creation of the separate neighbourhood houses allow for families to have their respective games at the younger age groups closer to home. At the Divisional level, the new club will have close to 125 teams participating in the BC Coastal Girls Soccer league, 4 District Soccer League, and the local Vancouver Youth Soccer leagues for U11 and U12 teams.
- Active Start
Vancouver United FC House League program focuses on creating a positive environment to learn the game of soccer and to further develop physical literacy skills.
Divisional Soccer is played in the U11 to U18 age groups. All U11-U12 divisional teams play eight-a-side games on half fields.
All U13 to U18 divisional teams play eleven-a-side games on full fields.
U13-U18 boys teams are organized into playing levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
U13 to U18 girls teams are organized into Divisions numbered from 1 to 8.
The U11-U12 age groups have some different levels of play depending on which league and which age group the team participates in.
Under the supervision of the club's Technical Director, our Academy Department and its coaching staff deliver a wide range of services to the club. This includes:
Embedded Coaching Program, Prospects Program, VanU Academy, Active Start Program
The club has a Technical Committee that oversees the clubs "on-field" program and that reports directly to the Board of Directors via Ewen Cameron (Technical Commitee Chair)
VanU FC's philosophy for the Active Start Program is to develop PASSION FOR THE GAME and LOVE OF THE BALL.
To achieve this, we need to create as many opportunities as possible for every player to touch the ball as often as possible. This is one of the primary reasons that the Active Start Program is focused on fun, physical literacy (learning fundamental momvement skills) and soccer skill development (particularly ball manipulation and game play).
