U10 Second Kicks
U10 SECOND KICKS 2026-2027 Season
*There are significant changes coming to our U10 age group this season. Please read through all the information below*
U10 will be a tiered age group in a league run by the Vancouver Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) for the 2026/27 season, starting in September 2026. We anticipate there will be two divisions with the possibility of a third being formed once a re-tiering process takes place around Thanksgiving, just as it does for U11 to U18 age groups.
We will select teams for the two higher tiers. These higher tier teams will be coached by VanU staff coaches and train twice a week. Players will have the option to sign up for a third session through Academy, as well as potentially through the Whitecaps as we have done with their Academy the past three years. Space will be limited in both those options and additional fees will apply. The season will be approximately 20 weeks long and run from September to February/March.
The lower tier teams will train once per week and will be coached by parent volunteers with the same level of support from staff that you had this past season in U9. Season length will be the same and they will of course also have the option of joining secondary programming like Skill Centre or Academy.
Players who are looking to take part in the tier 1 component of U10 Second Kicks will be asked to register for an evaluation which is taking place after Spring Break. For players who would like to register for Tier 2 you can register now using the link below:
Evaluations will be taking place for U10 Tier 1 on Monday 30th March at 5pm UBC Warren and UBC Woods Field. All members will receive a code for the registration. Non-members will be asked to pay the registration fee of $100, of which $75 will be credited towards your registration for the U10 2026/27 season.
Please read our Evaluation Policies here. It is important that all our players and their families understand that VanU has been committed to in-season, season-long evaluations for many years now and staff have been evaluating and submitting reports on these players to Gus Karvelis, VanU Technical Director, throughout the season. Team coaches have also provided their input on the players on a standardized form. These two parts of the Evaluation process are referred to as Phase 1 and Phase 2. The on-field sessions coming up that we will confirm the details of are called Phase 3. There are primarily for any players that may have joined a team later in the season or were injured and we don’t have as much information on. Phase 3 Evaluations are also for players who are looking to join VanU from another club.
The last part of the process, Phase 4, is the Team Formation Meeting, led by Gus or Jordano Pinto, our Assistant TD. This meeting is where the rosters for the teams are confirmed.
The fees for this program can be found on our fees page here.
