Fall Academy Up and Running
VanU Development Academy
Our Academy programming kicked off this month with enrolment numbers continuing to go up. The new curriculum for the Development Academy (Mondays & Wednesdays) is something that our members will certainly enjoy as we have merged the best parts of our Technical Skills Academy and our Small Sided Games Academy. Our expansion east is showing promise (Wednesday nights at South Memorial) as those groups become our trailblazers at that location! Come be a part of our Academy program in this new and exciting location!
Striker & GK Academy
Our Striker and GK Academy has been a joint effort as we provide some live shooting and goalkeeping for both programs. Everyone loves scoring goals or making saves off their buddies! Come join us as there are still some spots available!
Skills Centre
Programming launched at BC place as some of our players had their first session where the pros play and some players took on a couple of our Club Academy partners! It was an incredible start to the new season!
We still have some spots available on Saturdays (Girls) and Sundays (Boys). Register today before it's sold out!
A big thank you to Coastal FC, who brought all of their u8 to u12 teams, and to NorthVan FC for making the trek to BC Place as it made make the day even better!
Club Academy Series
Very fitting that our youngest and smallest (in numbers) groups took on the giants on the mountain side to start off our Academy Games. Our 2016 and 2017 girls had an amazing time in Coquitlam as they played back-to-back games vs CMFSC. More games to come as scheduling picks up now that the season is under way for all the clubs!
Field Day 2024 at BC Place Recap
For a number of our players, the opening weekend of the new season took place at the home of the Vancouver Whitecaps, BC Place.
Expanding on our Field Day from 2023, this year's edition was even bigger and better! Over two days, hundreds of VanU players took the pitch to play in the same stadium as the pro's and open their season with a bang!
Thank you to everyone who took part and made it a memorable weekend for everyone at our club.
VanU Girls Alumni Team
The inaugural Vancouver United Alumni FC Women’s team plays in Division 2 of the Metro Women’s Soccer League (MWSL). The team has one practice and one game a week (usually on Sundays) between September and April.
This pilot project is a priority for VanU thus registration is only $60. Please contact david.wood@vch.ca and jennifer.mclean.wood@gmail.com ASAP if you have any questions or would like to join the team!
CONCACAF W Champions Cup Tickets
Vancouver United is excited to offer a special promo code for tickets to the inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup, which the Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite Academy will take part in.
After winning the inter-provincial League 1 BC title last year, the team qualified for this prestigious tournament, competing alongside world-class professional clubs in the US, Mexico, and several other top teams from the CONCACAF region.
The 'Caps have played two matches so far in the group stage of the tournament, with the final two group matches against the San Diego Wave and Portland Thorns being held at BC Place.
The San Diego Wave will be in Vancouver on October 1 and may feature standout players like Kailen Sheridan (Canada), Naomi Girma (USA), and Delphine Cascarino (France). The Portland Thorns will follow on October 15, potentially showcasing stars such as Christine Sinclair (Canada), Jessie Flemming (Canada), and Sophia Smith (USA) on their world-class roster.
This is an incredible opportunity for young VanU players and families to see some of the top female players in the world, right here at home, playing against their local junior coaches, club alumni, classmates, friends and role models.
