Proof of Age Requirements

BC Soccer photo ID (BCID) is compulsory for all U11 to U18 players and team officials in the BC Coastal Soccer League.

A Proof of Age (POA) is required to complete a player’s registration with the District Association and the BC Soccer Association, and to obtain a BCID. The BCID number is valid for the player’s entire soccer career.

All incoming U11 players and players who are new to youth divisional soccer in BC (U11-U18) must submit a POA document for age and Canadian citizenship verification. Non-citizens may require an International Transfer Certificate.

A POA document can be either a photo or a scan of a Canadian birth certificate or the photo page of a Canadian passport. If you do not have a Canadian birth certificate or passport the front and back of the Permanent Residence card is accepted.

The document can be either a hardcopy or an electronic submission. Electronic copies are to be emailed to: info/at/vancouverunitedfc.com. For anyone who would like to provide a Hard Copy or if you do not have one of the acceptable documents please contact our Operations Manager Documents can be redacted as long as the players name, date of birth and citizenship are displayed.

  • Once the document is reviewed by Club Staff, the POAs are transferred to the District Registrar for approval.
  • Once approved by the District Registrar, a BCID number is issued and the POA documents are shredded or electronically deleted.
  • Only club officials who have undergone a Criminal Record Check and understand the sensitivity of these documents are permitted to handle POAs.
  • Please call the office at 604-674-4109 if you have any questions regarding POAs.
