U9-U10 PRE-SEASON INFO (WEST SIDE)

Opening Day Jamboree 2019

VanU is bringing back the Opening Day Jamboree for U4-U10 First Kicks players! The day will feature all of our First Kicks players on one field throughout the day. The Jamboree will be a unique start to the season, as we will have several different small sided games occurring, while we will also have food and other activities available. The Jamboree is also where U9-U10 players will pick up their kit! The day is set for Saturday, Sept 7 at Chaldecott Park. U9-U10 girls will therefore play on SATURDAY not Sunday for their first weekend. We want to make sure that all of our players are included, and our U4-U8 players do not play on Sundays- hence why it had to be a Saturday. Logistically, fitting that many players on one field is challenging, therefore the schedule for when each team will play shall be released later next week (players are still registering and consequently we are not sure how many teams to accommodate for in the schedule). A formal Jamboree email with more details will come out soon!

Date: Saturday, Sept 7

Time: 9am-2pm; players will play one 40 minute game within this period -check your schedule when it arrives

Location: Chaldecott Park

Practice and Game Schedules

Both the practice and game schedules have been posted online on our website. We apologize for the delay. The schedule takes into account registrations, team formations, coach assigning, and coaches’ training time requests. This year the process was delayed in certain steps, but with your feedback we have started to develop a better process for next year! We will provide full details later but essentially we will promise practice schedules before the end of the school year for everyone who has registered for the 2020-21 season by June 15, 2020.

We understand that families want to plan their schedules well in advance, and VanU is dedicated to accommodating that need. We appreciate your understanding, and we hope you have a fantastic season!

Note: the game schedule has the listed games for the weekends AFTER the Opening Day Jamboree. It is imperative that you read the section above, in case you skipped it.

“What team am I on?”

Coaches have been sent their rosters and will contact their players to inform them of their training schedule. Many coaches are still on summer vacation so please do not panic if you have not been contacted.

“What does my Age Group Coordinator do?”

Your volunteer AGC is one of the most critical people in the U9-U10 age group. They spent their summer creating teams, and assigning players and coaches in Stack. They are an incredible resource for your teams if you have any questions.

Fall Academy

Some of you are anxious for U11, as that is the first age group that players will be evaluated by skill level, and assigned to specific teams in different divisions. This process will begin in the Spring of 2020, but you can start preparing now if you are keen! Our Fall Academy is open for registration and provides our players with an extra training session per week, led by our staff coaches. The program places an emphasis on improving player’s technical skills, which some teams don’t have time for in regular practices. Players in our Academy receive a unique kit that they wear during their session. The program is independent from your regular team practices, so you can’t register as an individual! Our Academy is available to players of any skill level. If you are looking to improve your technical skills, this is the program for you.

Date / Time: Monday nights
