Hello Members,

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the improving weather as we get halfway through spring!

We have started working closely with the Whitecaps on programming and are looking forward to announcing even more initiatives with them in the coming year. We’re also happy to help them find host families for their out of town Academy players so please see the message from the Caps below and contact them if you would like to be a host or get more info.

Give a Home to One of the Whitecaps FC Stars of Tomorrow!

The Whitecaps FC MLS Academy program is looking for host families in the UBC surrounding areas to host players for the duration of the upcoming school year. Becoming a Billet host in the MLS Academy program is a unique and rewarding experience, sharing day-to-day life with a young player developing towards their professional soccer career in the MLS Academy and continuing his education at University Hill Secondary School.

Each family will be given two 2021 MLS regular season tickets per player, as well as financial compensation to cover food & utility costs. As a family, you will provide a safe and comfortable living environment and physical nourishment, which includes three nutritious, prepared meals per day, seven days a week.

A typical MLS Academy season will begin in mid-August for pre-season preparation, with players travelling home for Christmas and Spring Break, finally culminating in July following the MLS NEXT Playoffs tournament. The first competitive games of the season will take place around Labour Day, with players travelling Friday to Sunday, on average twice per month from September to June.

All MLS Academy players & staff must adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols before, during and after each training session. These protocols have been developed in conjunction with provincial health authorities and club medical professionals. MLS Academy staff will provide comprehensive information and support to all host families to ensure that all members of the family can stay as safe as possible.

If you are interested in becoming a Billet host family for this upcoming season, please contact:

VanU Programs

Registration for the 2021-22 season continues. We have deadlines for some divisions starting soon. We need to submit rosters to the District at that time so players registering after that for some teams may find they are full as there are maximum roster sizes set by BC Soccer that we have to abide by. We encourage you to register soon. Once again, we will be offering full refunds minus a very small admin fee (varies by program) if the season is cancelled due to COVID. You can register here.

Our First Kicks registration will be opening on the week of May 16th for players U6 - U8. Further updates will be sent to existing members of this group when the system is open.

We hope to be able to confirm more summer programming soon once we have confirmed field permits but for now our summer camps are open for registration. A reminder that we are working within PHO policies for these camps so we have to limit the number of players on the field. This is already leading to several camps having waitlists for some age groups. While PHO policies could change by the summer and reduce waitlists we still encourage you to register early. We have more summer camps this year than we have ever had before so there is lots of choice for dates, times and locations. Information on summer camps and a link to register can be found here.

New Adidas jerseys for 2021-22 season!

We are now past the deadline where we can guarantee having player surnames on the backs of our new Adidas jerseys for next season. Thanks to everyone who has already registered. We are assembling the team roster lists with jersey numbers and names and sending them to our supplier. While we can’t guarantee it will happen, we are still taking registrations and will accommodate late requests to the best of our ability in the next few days. For those who do not register in time to have their last name added to jerseys during the manufacturing process we are hopeful we will have the ability to add them once the jerseys arrive but there will be an additional fee for this for those that want it done.

2021 AGM

Please note that the Vancouver United FC AGM will be held virtually on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 7:00pm. We will send more info regarding how to register soon.
