VanU is pleased to be running our second annual Food Bank event this November. We will be accepting food donations (non perishable items) on Saturday, November 12th at Trimble Park and Chaldecott Park and on Sunday, November 13th at UBC Mini Field. Further details will be sent out in November. Last year we raised just over $4,000 and donated 30 boxes of food which was 529 pounds of food donations!
We are also running our Virtual Food Bank Drive, which is open now through to the end of November, if you would like to contribute, please use the link below:
A4K Match Campaign
The A4K (athletics4kids) Match campaign has kicked off and will be running from October 17th to November 29th. Every donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, by corporate sponsors and the funds will provide financial assistance for registration fees for kids to play community sports. Our VanU Community donates generously each year and we are hoping it can continue. Below is the link for the A4K Match Campaign where you can find out more about the program and to make your donation:
VUFC DEI Advisory Board
VUFC is undertaking Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training for its staff and Board members. We are working with Inclusion Incorporated on this. Part of our work involves forming an Advisory Board from within our membership, so we are looking for up to ten people with diverse backgrounds who can speak to the idea of being marginalized and how that affects or affected them. This will help guide VUFC policies and practices going forward so the club can provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all its members as much as possible.
For more information and to express your interest in joining the advisory board, please go here:
VanU Player of the Month
We’d like to get this feature going again! Please send us suggestions for your player of the month and we’ll look to do a profile on them in a future newsletter. Go here to submit your nominee:
Promote Your Business
We want to support our members in various ways. If you run or work for a local business and would like to get a promotional boost from the club, please go here and fill out this simple form. We’ll be including blurbs and links at no cost in future newsletters.
